Skin and Hair Problems? It Could Actually Be Your Water.
You've switched shampoos, bought a richer moisturizer, maybe spent more on color that fades anyway. Before you try another product, look at the one thing touching your skin and hair every single day: your shower water.
What's actually in your shower water
If you're on city water, it's treated with chlorine or chloramine to keep it safe to drink. That's good for drinking, but in a hot shower it's less kind to skin and hair. On its way to you, water can also pick up rust, sediment, pipe scale and heavy metals from aging pipes.
If you're on a private well, you likely don't have chlorine, but you may have iron, sediment or hydrogen sulfide, the cause of that rotten-egg smell.
Two homes on the same street can have very different water, and that's the point.
Why your skin and hair notice
Chlorine can strip the natural oils your skin and hair rely on, leaving skin tight and dry and hair frizzy, with color that fades faster than it should. Metals like iron and copper can build up on hair over time, making it look dull or brassy. If you've been fighting these problems with products, the cause may be coming out of your showerhead.
Filters shouldn't run on a calendar
Most shower filters tell you to replace the cartridge every few months, no matter what. But how fast a filter fills up depends on your water: the age of your pipes, how far you live from the treatment plant, whether you're on city or well water, and how many people share the shower. Replace too early and you waste money. Replace too late and you're showering in unfiltered water without knowing it.
Replace by evidence, not schedule
That's why we made MicronFlo transparent. Its pleats start bright white and gradually darken to amber, brown or grey as they capture what's in your water. Open your Bossa housing, take a look, and replace the cartridge when you can see it's time. No guessing and no arbitrary dates. The transparent cartridge design is patent pending.
How Bossa and MicronFlo work
Bossa is an inline shower filter that installs between your shower arm and showerhead in minutes, with no tools and no plumber. You keep your current showerhead, whether it's fixed or handheld.
Inside, the MicronFlo cartridge filters in two stages. First, a pleated membrane captures particles as small as 5 microns, including sediment, rust, pipe scale and larger microplastics. Then an inner chamber of KDF-55, calcium sulfite and activated carbon fiber reduces chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals and hydrogen sulfide.
Just as important is what it doesn't do. Bossa is not a water softener, and it doesn't remove nitrates, arsenic, fluoride or biological contaminants. If your well water has known nitrate or arsenic issues, talk to a certified water treatment specialist.
Where to start
- One shower: the Starter Kit pairs Bossa with a spare MicronFlo, so you're covered for your first swap while you learn how quickly your water fills a cartridge.
- Every shower in your home: the Multi-Bathroom Kit gives each bathroom its own Bossa.
- Already have an inline filter housing: MicronFlo fits most standard housings.
Your water is different from your neighbor's. Now you can see it.
